Well, I am going to go ahead and add some storage to my laptop.
It currently has a M.2 WD Blue with the OS etc at 500gb.
I want to add 1tb of M.2 style harddrive for extra storage for movies pics etc. I have well over 300 gb of movies I want to already put into once installed..
Here is a picture of my motherboard, what do you suggest as a storage.?
It also has a 2.5 SSD empty slot too. Maybe later..

You can put in pretty much anything. Pick whatever name brand is cheapest in your region and go from there.

I run dual M2's and originally did 2 x BPX Pro 960's and they worked fine but, i got tempted by PNY and swapped one of them to a CS3030 and the PNY actually performs better and has more storage available for use. The thing to remember on these Phison based drives is to update the firmware or they're a bit sluggish. Takes 5 seconds to update and then you're good to go. Between the BPX drives it's easy to hit 1GB/s data moves and the CS will hit ~1.5GB/s in teal world transfers vs the BS you get from crystal disk testing.

Curious as to what drivers need updating? I just installed the WD Blue M@ and its working fine. No issues right now.

For the 2 drives I mentioned they have Phison controllers and the FW needs to be updated on them or they slug along @ spinner speeds vs flash.

Each drive you look at tends to use different controller chips to transfer data to the chips. Depending on the controller there may be common issues that are fixed with FW updates that resolve them. Before updating the FW I would get ~60MB/s and after exceed 1GB/s. It all depends on the drive / controller though. I don't recall WD Blue's having any issues but, they didn't meet my requirements for durability / speed / warranty when comparing drives. I'm comfortable with doing updates to make these things work @ speed. There are quirks when you dig through reviews on drives you'll notice or search for.

Not drivers, the actual flash controller. There's usually a utility from manufacturers to update controllers on ssds
