    Hello,

I am a current owner of the NP8662 which I purchased with Xotic (I love the machine, thanks again for the advice here btw). Anyway, the machine has been great, no complaints. One detail I am obsessing over that I was looking for some feedback on.

I ordered it with smallest 5400 RPM drive instead of an upgraded 7200 RPM drive. How much of a performance impact should I see this in my gaming performance (in real world scenarios) as a result of taking the slower drive? Drastic? Minor? Just wondering if anyone has done any similar comparisons and noticed any significant impact. Hate to think I bought such a nice machine and then put a bottleneck on myself to save 20 bucks (also to reduce heat issues from the faster drive which, I now see, may have been inaccurate advice from a friend which informed my decision.)

    Thanks

The faster harddrive wont help at all with gaming. Your safe. :p

The only thing itll help with gaming is the time to load the game could be shortened. But thats it

It's going to be fine. This wont affect your gaming at all, your laptop is really nice.

Like the others said, it does not affect fps in games but it can shorten boot and load times depending on which drives you're talking about.

Sometimes 5400rpm drives are faster than 7200rpm.

In half-life a 7200 rpm drive will make you happy :)

    Other than that.. no :p

Oh btw, what are your idle and gaming temps on your drive and which drive is it?
