I just wondering, how big is a difference between those two graphic cards?

in some cases, the card with less graphics memory is faster than one with more memory, eg, the ati x1400 256mb is slower than the x700 128 mb. However in this case, i would assume (im no expert) that the card with more video memory is the faster and better card.

Thanks SAHM1, that was enlightening. More VRAM can give more performance. I remember a debate about whether the 256 could even be fully utilized. Put simply, I believe the increased VRAM would offer more performance.

    Dont you love useless posts?

You cant really tell which one will have the better performance without knowing the clock speeds of the two. If the 128 is clocked higher than the 256 then the 128 will have better performance for tasks that do not require the added video ram of the 256. I am no expert on the matter but i believe both cards will perform just about equally (if clocked the same) except for the most demanding of tasks.

I believe the X1400 was on par with the X600 from the past generation, which would explain the X700 with less memory being faster. That would be like comparing a 512mb 8600 to a 256mb 7800 (the 7800 is much faster regardless of the amount of VRAM).

HOWEVER, the two graphics cards in question are the exact same thing, just with different amounts of memory. The higher memory should offer better performance and should be at least somewhat noticeable.
