accidentally erased my post.. tired.. gonna try and give it in nutshell, Please excuse!

i came home to find that my lappy was not blinking, which it should have been, since i left the house on standby mode... eventualyl got too hot and checked it out to find fan not working, the left wrist area was getting VERY hot... pulled the battery out... was left plugged in when i left the house... none of my family members use it, plus its passworded...

i cooled it off by blowing into the vent and intake and sat it by a fan for a couple mins... turned it on and everything is as breezy as it was before..

but what happened!!! it scared the pooopy outta me.. one week old and its fan didnt turn on..

was it soemthing to do with standby mode?

to prevent this from happening again, i just shut down.

    can someone provide an explanation?

-i have everest, forgot which version-not at home- and it doesnt work with vista apparently... i double click it and the window shades down and the Allow/dont allot window comes up.. i click allow and it goes away, nothing activates.. any help with that? i'd really like a program to monitor cpu temps and of the such... also everest was an awesome program, telling me all the hardware and specs of stuff in this baby...

It seems to me that your BIOS isn't activating the fan until your CPU gets to a certain temp (that's normal), but when you have the lid closed the heat can get trapped and that would provide the increase in temp you described. Also, did it go into hibernation or was it on? Because if it was on, it may have been woken up by: lan/program/etc. To disable that if this is the case, go to either your BIOS or power options or something of the like and disable it.
