    Hi,

I need some advice for an external enclosure for my old Crucial C300 SSD. It needs to be 2.5" and have USB3.0.. I've been looking at those on eBay like this but wasn't too sure about its performance

2.5 inch Hard Disk Drive USB 3.0 Sata HDD External Enclosure Aluminum Case+Cable | eBay

I've looked at branded ones like this one and I really like it..

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1E3IQLEA4G42D

I've never heard of them. Has anyone ever bought this or has any other recommendations?

    Thanks

Try the Silverstone Raven RV02. Its got a specific ASMEDIA conversion chip that supports USB3.0 Turbo and UASP. Otherwise, the other enclosures that I know of are limited to some speed in between SATA2 and SATA3. This will be really nice futureproofing for later if you want to use SATA3 SSDs.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any enclosures that also explicitly support UASP except the BlacX (uses same Asmedia chip but different revision as the RV02) which is a dock.

Another UASP-enabled enclosure is the Startech.

It shows up as an ASMT 2105 device in Device Manager but the writing on the chip says it is ASM 1053. I've measured a 235MB/s read speed but that may be bottlenecked by an mSATA - 2.5" adaptor board.

Note that you need to set the drive policy to Best Performance.

Buy it, try it, and if it's not great return it - that may be your best bet, assuming the seller has a decent returns policy.

It looks good with UASP. support. I would write Inateck to ask about the chipset. Otherwise, I would buy a Raven RVS02 as Marksman30K suggested. I bought one for myself a while ago, specifically because of the ASMedia chipset.
