I am leaving to Iraq in a few hours and I dont have a way to get all 4 GB of Ram my question is that I have 3 GB installed now of 1 stick of 1gb DDR2-800 and 2gb of DDR2-667.

I have another stick of 2gb DDR2-800 and I am running Vista 64 so my question is should I install 3GB of DDR2-800 or 4 GB with the setup I have now? Or 3gb of DDR2-800

you should go for the 4 GB.

your chipset will use 667hmz for the ram anyway. at least i think so. it does not support 800mhz.

so it is pretty clear. install 4 GB !!

I posted that at first then read his specs and deleted. He has a desktop CPU and it does support 800Mhz. But which is better? I don't know right now.

oh, just seen that too. must have read the thread a bit too fast.

i guess it would be a head to head comparison anyway. vista definetly gets better, the more ram it gets.

of course the 800mhz ram would be faster, but that advantage in ram performance is around 5 %. you would not even feel these 5% difference in ram performance. but will feel the 4 GB in Vista. though the "sweet spot" for vista is around 3 GB, it´s good to have the extra GB for some demanding tasks.
