hi all i went out and bought the a305-s6916 laptop from bestbuy and have 13 left to try it out to see if i wanna keep it. So far i like it but have some questions i need help with. Ill check back in 1 hour....

    the processor is 2.0 gigahertz
A-its a toshiba can i upgrade the processor if i wanted to to say 2.4 or 3 gigahertz if there is such a thing and if so does it void warranty? also is there much difference between 2.0 gigaherts and 2.4??

B- how do you safely overclock from 2.0 gigaherts to say 2.4 and is it safe...is there software or something?

C- battery seems to last about 2 hours and 45 mins even tho they advertise 3 hours is this normal its on powersaver mode...

    thanx all

Upgrading the processor will void the warranty.
Your system uses Socket P monteveina processors, so you can upgrade as high as the T9900 at 3.06Ghz.
However that processor is very costly and it will probably heat your laptop a lot more than the current processor.
The A305 does not support quad core processors if I recall correctly.

The difference between a 2.0 and a 2.4Ghz dual core will only be noticeable in cpu intensive games, CAD rendering, Photoshop, and media production such as video editing

Your system does not support overclocking, and even if it did, overclocking automatically voids the warranty.

Most manufacturers lie in order to make sales. A common one is battery run time. Dell, Toshiba, hp, lenovo, you name it. All of them advertise much longer battery life that ever happens

    1. You can upgrade the processor, but it will void your warranty. I don't think there would be much of a difference unless you plan on using the CPU intensively. Then again, there's the price/performance gain ratio to look at.

    2. I don't think you can overclock the CPU since the BIOS may not allow it.

    3. 3hrs could be on powersaver mode + very dim screen + not doing anything that drains too much power.

2/3. Even if you can overclock the cpu (unlikely) consider that the battery time will drop because the cpu will consume more energy.

dude I have Core 2 Duo T5800 2 GHz in my lappy and games don't need more than that to work great, in gaming GPU matters most, besides even if you don't plan gaming a lot, it's not worth upgrading when you have at least 2 GHz, unless you make huge jump towards CPU's like 2,56 GHz T9400 with newer generation of architecture
