I have a Fujitsu Lifebook S6130 laptop and I was planning to upgrade the RAM from 256MB DDR333 to 1GB.

So I went to www.kingston.com to look how much it costs if I were to use their system specific memory for upgrading. I realized that the price was pricey.

My friend told me it was okay to use generic memory from Kingston as long as the modules are of type DDR 333. If I were to use generic memory, I was worried if the generic memory can cause instabilities to the computer.

So I was wandering which is a better choice, to buy a pricey system specific memory or a generic memory that is cheaper.

Generic memory has a slightly larger chance it won't work as it is not tested as much.

I suggest that you buy the memory at newegg.com. They have cheaper price and brand name memory.

You shouldn't have a problem running any decent brand of DDR333 that you buy off of Newegg.com. Sometimes you run into incompatibilities with certain brands of memory with certain laptops and chipsets but you'll be able to tell right away there is a problem if you run some tests like Memtest or Prime95 to test for errors.
