I want at least a 7200 rpm, afraid the 10,000 will be too loud, or drain my battery in minutes.

Any suggestions for a replacement for the 5400 rpm dog I have now?

120 to 160 Gig is plenty for me.

    Thanks!

Check out the WD Black Series, Seagate 7200.3 and the Hitachi 7K320.

There are no 10,000RPM mobile SATA HDDs available.

(And say Hi! to Hermione) :p

Your laptop uses standard height 9.5mm thick 2.5" SATA notebook drives.
The fastest drive you can get as of now is the latest generation 7200rpm drives. They are currently at 320Gb capacity.
In my experience, the Hitachi 7K320's I bought (7200rpm) are more power efficient than the 5400rpm drive it replaced.

However you may want to wait about 2-3 weeks, because the new 5th generation 7200rpm drives are going to hit the market with a capacity of 500gb.

If you want a 500gb drive now, you can pick one up for $80 open box on newegg, or around $110 new.
The 500gb 5400rpm drives seem to have the perfect balance of speed and power efficiency.

You'll have to go with a 7200 320GB hard drive for the best speeds right now. Either the Hitachi or WD drives seem to do very well. The 10k drives are for servers/desktops. Plus it would drain your battery a lot faster.
