Ok. I'm in the market looking for a new notebook. I wanted to get the HP dv6 quad edition (core i7), but i'm under budget constraints. So i'm now looking at the ASUS UL80Vt-A1. And i have a question abt the Intel SU7300 it has. Would this be a decent processor for running softwares such as 3DSMax, Maya, SketchUp, Photoshop, etc? I'm an Architecture student and really need a notebook soon (works pilling in!!!). I've read the reviews and comments on this forum abt the notebook, but i'm not sure if this processor would suit my needs. So hoping someone here would educate me a bit about this particular cpu?
Much thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers

For SKP and Photoshop no problems whatsoever.
3DSMax is a rendering program and I have seen Maya take a good desktop and make it look pathetic. It depends on what you are doing and how complex youre model/file is.
But for SKP it is more than enough, for Photoshop it does the job very well, but for rendering and modeling in Maya I am afraid it might not cut it.
I suggest you post on the What Notebook Should I Buy? Forum so that you get more help once you fill in the FAQ. Thanks!
Hope this helps! -
No... the SU7300 is not designed to do such instensive work.. if your going to do such work , i suggest you get a laptop with Core i7... and if you don't have the cash get a desktop... however , if you want some advice on what notebook you can buy with the budget you have , post in the What Notebook Should I Buy? Forum..

Photoshop can be very CPU intensive too... I'm not sure how your SU7300 compares to a T9300 but I can max out my CPU easily with merging Photographs - now that is a specific task - and some tasks are graphics accelerated.
But if you are looking at a laptop for Photoshop - I suggest get the most powerful (with the best screen) you can - if only to make it last longer.
Else, the "WNSIB" section is yur best bet. Good luck! -
i did post a thread there already. no reply from anyone. i guess i'd have to chip in 200$ more and get the DV6 Quad.
Thanx guys. -
Can you give us a link to that thread?
I will very gladly help if I get the information from the FAQ -
