You can find it out yourself....Go in Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers > Ultra-ATA or Serial-ATA Controller ?

Its most likely to be SATA, since you already have a >230GB HDD.

You could go for the WD5000BEVT, if in need of more storage space.

A 320GB drive will give you about 298GB of usable space. A 500GB drive will give you about 465GB usable.

If your filling up that much space, maby you should get a huge external drive? would be a lot cheaper.

That's probably system restore files from Vista eating up your hard drive space.

you have sata harddrives in your laptop. Because you have two harddrives, you can expand your capacity to 1000Gb if you desired (2 x 500Gb) Good 500Gb drives are the WD5000BEVT drive. Its a 500gb 5400rpm

Or you can upgrade to two 320g 7200rpm drives to give you 640gb of space.

To copy files, you can use acronis true image or other similar cloning software

Your notebook has the ICH8M chipset (Santa Rosa based), which does not offer ATA ports for HDDs.

You can either replace on with a 500giger, or get two 320GB 7200RPM HDDs.

Ok, i just want to replace one HDD. So i would have one 120GB (current) and one 320GB (want to buy).

So could anyone recromend me a 320GB 7200rpm model?

Seagate, Hitachi and WD, all 3 perform almost the same, and are equally good.
    A.T. Tomshardware C-gate > WD > Hitachi > Samsung....

    Get the cheapest one.

The 250GB version is for $89.99, and the 320GB version is for $99.99....

Prices are good, I think K-Tron bought the 160GB version for $80, couple of months ago....

I bought all three of my 7K320 160gb drives at $90 a piece.
    320Gb for $90 is a great deal.
I bought mine when they were just released, thus the higher price I paid.

The 7K320 is a great drive, I highly recommend it.
