I just purchased a HP DV9260NR and wanted to know what upgrades can be done to it.
What is the fastest processor that can be used ?
How much memory can the motherboard support?
can a sataII ssd be used to run the OS?
I purchased the computer used with no OS installed. I will be installing Vista Ultimate, but I don't know if the 32bit or 64 bit version would be best.
This is my first time owning a notebook pc. I have built and upgraded desktop computers for years, but this is more of a challenge.
Thanks for any help that you can offer.

Here is a link to the specs. Looks like 4GB's RAM. SATA 1.5. Socket M CPU so like T7600 2.33Ghz not worth it money wise in my opinion to upgrade CPU. Lots of HDD options. It looks like a fast system I wouldn't look past adding RAM and HDD upgrade.

Well the laptop you purchased is pretty upgradeable.
You have an intel core 2 duo based laptop, which uses socket M processors.
This means that if HP has a recent bios update, you can upgrade your processors up to the T7200, T7400 and T7600.
Your system uses a sata harddrive so you can upgrade yours to a speedy 7k320gb drive if you so desire. You can use any sata mobile 9.5mm thick drive with your laptop. The only laptop drive which will not work is the hitachi 5k500series since they are 12.5mm thick.
Your memory can be upgraded for very little, since your system uses ddr2 Pc5300 memory and should recognize 4gb of memory with a 64 bit operating system. If the operating system is 32 bit, than you will see a maximum memory capacity from 3.0Gb to 3.6gb, but it depends on teh graphics in teh system.
Your graphics are not upgradeable as most laptop graphics cards are not upgradeable.
I think I hit on everything, so you can upgrade your laptop a good ways, so it was a good investment for you
