You can use your current power adaptor if you were to buy a power inverter.
A power inverter takes the 12volts which comes out of the cigarette lighter port and inverts it to 120VAC. Than you just plug your power adaptor into the inverter and you are good to go.
Vector makes great power inverters. I have had mine for over 5 years and never had any problems:
70watt:

you can always buy a higher watt power supply if you need.
To figure out how many watts you laptop needs, look at the power adaptor. Multiply the amperage and the voltage to figure out the wattage needed. 70-100 watts should be more than enough for most laptops
By the way it doesnt work in toyota's

Input: 100-240V~1.5A 50-60Hz
Output: 19V - 4.74A
What am I supposed to be multiplying? -
you just need a power inverter capable of powering your adapter adapter.
for a regular 15.4 with no vid card, you need about 75watts
with a vid probably about 100watts
heres how it goes:
laptop > adapter > inverter > car 12v(car lighter) -
19V x 4.74Ampere = 90.06 watts.
Since the power adaptor is not 100% efficient I would look for a power inverter rated for 150 watts or so.
