    Hi,

I'm noticing the bulk of my entertainment is around 40-50GB but I cannot find a single one thats under $100! My iPod is 30GB and it's maxing out right about now.

Does anyone know where I can get one? It seems like the more dense once are cheaper and have higher value. I'm in a bit of a bump here and can't spend more than $50 after shipping.

    Any help is appreciated.

newegg.com is your friend. if you're going external don't worry too much about performance as you will be limited by usb port. esata will help but really shouldn't be a big deal.

I've tried newegg, cant find anything portable and cheap that's around 40 or 80GB. I have an eSATA port on my laptop.

to your door, yea pretty much unless you want to go used.

If you or someone you know has an old drive, you can just pick up an enclosure for less than 10 bucks and throw it in there.

Oh yeah!!! I think my brother has a couple 2.5" Seagates that are quite dense in storage, way more than 60GB definitely.

I can't believe I needed someone else to remind me :D. Are enclosures hard to set up?

Enclosures are very simple to modify. Usually all you need to do is remove like two screws, and the two halves of the enclosure slide apart. Than its just the matter of swapping the harddrive inside.

Zipzoomfly is a great alternative to Newegg. ZZF has almost always had better harddrive prices than Newegg, so most likely their enclosures are bound to be pretty inexpensive to.

enclosures are pretty simple. but do make sure you get the right kind, and one of decent quality. they all look pretty cheap btw. you should be able to find one for $10, and maybe $20 if the $10 ones don't look up to par. i have an icy box if that helps any. it seems pretty dinky, but it's worked excellent so far, and i haven't had any problems whatsoever with it. and it was $10 @ fry's.

Thats okay, I'm feeling a little confused now how there is a generic brand 2.5" 60GB drive on eBay for $43 and how recently a 1TB 3.5" was posted on this forum and it's only $99. I can't spend that much but the storage jump is insane.
