    Hello,

Yesterday my trusty Zepto Znote 2425W suddenly broke, the screen went entirely dark. However I could still see a faint image so at least the LCD screen itself wasn't broken, just the backlight. After asking on another forum it seemed that my problem was most likely a broken inverter, the peice of kit which ramps up the voltage from the battery to power the florescent tubes which illuminate the screen.

Now at the time I didn't know my laptop's model number [in fact I've only found out by logging in to this forum again and checking my private messages] so I took the screen apart to find the inverter. Here are a couple of pictures:

What I need now is a replacement. If anyone can identify that inverter that would be a great help, as would any advice as to where I could buy a replacement.

    Thanks,

    Tom.

Unfortunately I can't seem to buy that product on the website, so if anyone could provide an alternative vendor I'd be very grateful.

I have not bought from this store before--the place I normally buy inverters from does not carry your inverter but a google search turned up quite a few places that sell the one you are looking at.

Inverter replacements are always iffy. I agree there is a good chance that is the issue, but I wouldn't guarantee it. It could also be the backlight itself given your description.

I would try the inverter first as they are easy to swap out, but the backlight is a much trickier job (things are very brittle)

Thanks for the link, although in the end I was able to purchase my component from the company I linked to above. Yours was cheaper, but I wanted the part quickly.

Quickly it definately was, the part arrived today and within 5 minutes I had the new inverter installed and hurrah, my laptop screen is now working properly! I'm very pleased.
