I bought a scorpio black that will be going into my T400 soon. I tried cloning using acronis but it came up with a error, so I am trying EASEUS.
Can I clone over what acronis copied onto the new HDD or does all of that need to be deleted?(I tried to delete it today and started it around 8AM and it still was not done when I got home at 7 so I canceled it. I don't think it should take that long to delete 30GB.)

With each clone, you'll need to/should format your destination disk first.

The cloning software will normally do the reformatting / partitioning and warn you if the destination disk is not empty.

I partitioned using Gparted and the partitions show up in both Gparted and in Acronis True Image partition creator. The partition however does not show up when running the computer. The clone is successful as I am running off the new HDD now and would like to keep it in if possible.
Why would the partitions not show up on the computer but the partition shows up in the programs? I did create the second partition(Its broken into 2 both about 150GB) after the clone was done in the first one. Easeus actually created the first one and I had to create the second one.
Does the partition have to be in a certain format? Also in Gparted you can create extended partitions, primary, etc. I tried both and neither one showed up on the computer. I could use the acronis partitioner but I would have to delete the clone and start over. Also I havnt had good luck with acronis, it has not finished anything other than the clone(that didnt work) under 6+ hours.
Any time I bot from a CD it shows the capacity as 298.1GB but the computer shows it as the cloned size of 148GB? What about the rest. I know it is there and I know I can get to it some how, what do I need to do so that I can get the OS to recognize the second partition? -
What I did when received my Scorpio Black was:
1. Formatted in NTFS without driver letter using Vista Disk Management tool.
2. Opened Acronis tool for disk cloning and choose "manual method". Then all further was very clear by description in the program.
Everything took about 4 hours to clone three partitioned 500GB drive proportionally to 320GB. Hope this hepls -
EASUS seems to be a good cloning program from what a few forums say.
I would clone from the older harddrive, not the new one.
The last clone may have lost important data which could cause the next clone to fail. So it is best to clone from the original drive.
30gb should not take all that long to clone.
With Gpart/Partition Magic you can change the partition size/delete it etc. You should not have much of a problem changing partition parameters as long as the drive is all in NTFS

The partition may be sitting there waiting for you to assign it a name and letter.

Ok it looks good now. I've got two partitions both around 150GB. Is there any way to move all of my documents to the new partition without messing anything up. Ex. I have all my itunes music there that itunes wont be able to find if I move it. That isnt a big issue but what about programs that save files to a folder that already exists in the original my documents.
Is there any way to avoid rebuilding my itunes and folders that programs save to?
How do you(personally, I don't need help) use your multiple partitions to organize your data? I've heard about putting the OS on a small one and making one big one for data. What are the other options?
I've currently got all my data on the first partition but would like to organize them. Just not sure how I want to do it yet. I'd like to have my OS and Programs on the first one and my data on the second one if possible.
Need help on cloning my HDD?
