Hi,
I have a fairly new HP Pavilion dv9500t CTO with 17.0" WSXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1680 x 1050). It came with Vista Home Premium, and I installed Vista Ultimate upgrade. I am quite confident that the Device Manager was listing a specific driver (which title included words "BrightVew" and "Widescreen") in the Monitor section originally. I noticed recently that the Monitor driver now is "Generic PnP Monitor" with very limited functions and parameters. I have already:
1. contacted HP support staff three times. The first time they provided me with some kind of a driver that wouldn't even install. The second time they provided me with a suite of drivers for my nVidia GeForce card (511MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS). It attempted to install a graphic card driver that was older than what I have. The third time they answered that having "Generic PnP Monitor" is just fine and that I can contact them again if I have any trouble with the monitor.
2. Re-installed the latest nVidia package hoping that the driver for my display would be included in the package. It didn't help.
3. Removed "Generic PnP Monitor" hoping that during the reboot the system would detect and attempt to go through the installation process and suggest a better driver.
4. searched the web and HP for the driver and couldn't find anything
So, I am puzzled... Did I see "BrightView Widescreen...." display driver in my dreams or it exists, but I just failed to find it?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Vlad
