I have a Compaq 610 laptop which has a 15.6" LED screen. The screen was smashed and I had to replace it. The original screen had the connection in the left side and unfortunately the screen I bought for it has the connection on the right side :(

The laptop's display cable is not long enough. I bought so far three Left to Right extension cables. I couldn't power up the laptop with the first extension cable. I contacted the seller and they insisted that I should try their cable again. On the second try the cable catch fire. I could power my laptop with the 2nd and 3rd extension cables but the screen is all white.

So after testing 3 extension cables I want to know how good they are? Should I try a 4th cable or just go an buy another LED screen with the connection on the left side?

Is there a chance you have the extension reversed? That fold in there might be what's causing it to go wrong. I don't know for sure, though.

This was my first reaction when I realised that one side of the extension needs to be flipped over so that it can be connected to both the screen and the display cable. Both sellers assured me that this is the way these cables are used. Both of them also claim that they never had problems using these extensions.

I don't know what I should do now? try another seller? or get another screen ?

I'm trying to solve this screen problem differently now. I'm looking at replacing the display cable with a longer one so I don't have to use an extension. The issue now is to find the part number for the longer cable. I searched online but I can't find anything useful :(

If any one knows the part number for the longer cable I would appreciate it they would let me know.
HP's reference number for the original LED cable is 6017B0200702
HP's reference number for the original CCFL cable is 6017B0240301
