I have a brand new hard drive that i just opened and i put it into an enclosure. When i plug in to my laptop it does not show up in my computer. Im running vista home premium and i already installed the drivers. the computer detects the drive, but the hard drive icon doesnt showup in my computer. How do I fix this?

In the control panel options you should find the administrative tools. Go to the computer management options and from there go to storage. In there go to disk management and you should see your new drive. You can format the drive and assign a drive letter to it from there. The above is for the XP control panel options. For vista the options should be the same as XP...I have not adopted Vista so I am not sure what has changed internally but it should b along the same lines.
