I have an ASUS A2H pentium4 478 2.8GHz 533fsb (also accepts pentium celeron), I was thinking of upgrading the processor to Pentium M and I think is it possible for some reasons I will tell... but I am not sure :(

My reasons are, there is another model called A2L which has the same identical looks and bios update... the A2L comes with a pentium mobile!

I actually upgraded my bios using the A2L bios upgrade and it works fine .

Any of you guys have any comment on this? :D

    Thanx

I have checked the mobile processors in the market, many of them come with 478 pins!

This is not the issue, I am simply worried if the computer will be damaged.

    Thanx for the reply :)

I believe even though the Core Duo's share the same socket, the pin configurations are different, so a Core Duo will fit only into a Skt 478 designed for it. It is different from both the Pentium 4 and the Pentium M, so it wont fit into any regular socket 478.
