I wanna buy the alienware area51 serie and I have the option between a single HD (5400 rpm or 7200 rpm) or paired RAID 0 HD (5400 rmp or 7200 rpm). I was wondering what are avantages and inconvenients of RAID HD, are thay really 'that' fast?

    Thanx

Yes, it is fast, but it is not extremely fast. 2 HD for RAID 0 will be combined and strip to one drive, let HD's seeking and searching the data on 2 HD is faster than only one HD. The disadvantage is the expense for 2nd HD. The Inconvenience is no any fault tolerance fpr back up.
