Hi,I got the old X300 on ebay for $200 recently.PM 1.4 ghz and with a 512mb stick(640mb including onboard ram).Everything seems to work fine for what I use it for, except when I play Literati on Yahoo games.I know the gpu is not much but I thought atleast it can hanlde this.

My question is,will putting in a 1 gb ram stick help with this issue? As there is only 1 ram slot available on this system..so I would have to take the current stick out.I would end up with 1152mb ram max. Is it worth spending about $50 to pick a 1gb stick up? Thanks.

Doubling your RAM would definitely improve performance. By a lot. Since you only have 512MB right now, it's probably what's holding your system back.

Crucial shows that a 1GB module is compatible (first thing to check on the older notebooks).

I'm sure you will see a noticeable boost to the performance. An extra 512MB does not sound much but it will more than double the RAM remaining after the OS has loaded. And you may find that the BIOS automatically allocates a bigger share of the RAM to the CPU.

I guess I'll get a crow bar and try to pry open my dusty wallet and get that 1GB.
