If you use a cooling pad under the notebook,it might not need to work that much.

One thing you could try: buy some graphite powder (hardware stores have handy small tubes for locks), remove the fan from the chassis, blow in some of the powder (squeeze the tube), spin the fan by hand, blow in some more, spin again and then blow off the remainder before testing it.

It is very hard to change the fan that is in your laptop. The fans have a specific layout and size, so that they can only be used in one specific laptop. It will be very hard to find a fan from a different manufacturer which will fit in your laptop.

Stefanhamminga's idea of adding graphite is a good idea, and I dont think anyone has ever mentioned it before. Graphite is an excellent lubricant which does not carry the liquid nature of oil. Graphite dust will migrate into the bearings on the fan and result in a depreciation in the harmonic destrortion inside of the rotor of the fan.

Another thing you can try is undervolting. Undervolting the processor will result in less thermal heat and result in the fan coming on less.
Refer to the undervolting guide to do this.
