My son's laptop (HP DV8135NR) recently crashed, and it appears the primary hard drive was bad. Since it has 2 HD's (100GB each), I flipped the 2, reinstalled windows and all other garbage that came with it. Now it works, but is a little glitchy and slow.
I'm thinking about replacing both HD's with new ones (120 gb or 160 gb), but am not sure exactly which ones to get. I don't want to spend a lot of money for 2 reasons-
1. Because the laptop is older (2006)
2. Because if there is something else wrong, then I don't want to be out a bunch of money.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...

So, can anyone tell me if the Samsung HM160HC is 100% compatible?
It appears to be the least expensive one I can find. -
what chipset do u have what interface does the hard drive use? If it uses PATA that samsung drive should be allright... if it uses SATA , u have to look for different drives...
-
That's my problem-I don't have a clue. The hard drives that are installed are Fujitsu MHV2100AT.
Interface?, chipset?, sorry, I'm just not savy enough with computer lingo. -
It appears it is a EIDE or PATA interface.
Can anyone recommend an inexpensive replacement say around 160GB? -
tilleroftheearth Wisdom listens quietly...
The recommended HD for the IDE (PATA) interface (on this forum) is this one:
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/productmodel.do?type=62&subtype=67&model_cd=294
The fastest available and the size you need.
Hope you can find two at a good price.
Cheers! -
WD3200BEVE is good too. -
Thanks everyone, I appreciate it...
