Plain and simple, is a Full Hi Definition, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD (1920x1200) & 2.0 M too BIG for a 15 inch notebook? Is the writing too small? Does it make games go slower because of the larger resolution? Im specifically looking at the Dell XPS m1530 and I'd like to hear some responses on experiences or knowledge about this screen size.

It will make everything tiny and there will be a considerable deal of eye strain.
I'd get the LED 1440x900 if I were you, better brightness and better overall quality...
If you game at that res, you`ll choke the 8600M GT... [IMG] because it's a 128 bit card. At 1440x900 you`d game natively and a lot of games run smooth at that res with some mild OCing.

I had a 15 SS SXGA+. Well I liked but remember a 15.4 WS is comparable to a 14 SS not a 15 SS. That is a bit much dropping down one size and increasing the resolution one level? I think too much. And yes if wanting to game in native resolution eleron's suggestion is a good one. People will tell you, you don't have to game in native resolution, I agree it is doable but well it is too high for a 8600m GT in native. Listen to eleron!

I think the best size for a 15.4" is 1680x1050 resolution. I find that 1920x1200 is a bit hard to see on a screen smaller than 17".

I would Pm a few xps1530 owners for the best answers, since different manufatcurers use different screens.

Good god, you guys have good eyes - 1280x800 on my 15.4 is almost too small! And 1440x900 on my 19" is just right..... (that's a blind man, not a cool icon)

BTW K - did you get that new Samsung drive?

Your OS is also a factor of influence, in order of scaling capabilities (crap -> great): XP - Vista - Linux

I'm running a 15.4" 1920x1200 and I totally love it! I run both XP x64 and Linux, especially linux looks incredible, very crisp & smooth fonts (just up the DPI value to increase font size to preference). I do work with other 15.4" screens as well (laptops from friends/fam/clients), but at the end of the day I always miss my screen real estate.
