Hi,
I'm trying to replace the processor in my DV9930US, following the info in the HP service manual:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01951704.pdf
I've run into a couple of problems.
1) In the "Speaker Assembly" section (pg. 66), it says to remove the antenna and microphone wires from the clips in the speaker assembly. These wires have very little slack in them, so I haven't been able to get them out from the clips. The cables go through a channel in the speaker assembly, and the "clips" are actually just small tabs over the channel and the cables all run in the channel under the "clips"/tabs. I already broke one of the tabs (by mistake) when I tried to move the cables from under it, so was wondering if there's a better way to get those wires out of the channel?
2) I kept on going, and got to the "Display" section (pg. 69), and got stuck again. In step 5, it says to remove "Display panel cable" (it's the cable with a small tag glued to it), but I can't figure out how to remove that cable. I couldn't see any kind of connector or anything, so I wasn't sure what to do.
I actually tried to keep on going, to try to remove the "top cover", but I kind of got really stuck there because I hadn't removed/detached the display.
Anyway, I re-assembled the laptop, and it seems to be working again, but I'd still like to do the processor replacement, so, if anyone is familiar with this or similar HP laptop, can you provide some tips and info about the steps that I mentioned above?
Thanks,
Jim

Hi,
For the record, I figured both things out:
1) Re. the wires going through the channell in the sound board: Those same wires going through channels on the top cover. If the wires are removed from those channels (move the metal tabs), then there's enough slack to pull the sound board out.
2) Re. the video cable connector: I found some semi-helpful pictures of "LCD cable", so figured out that, to remove the video cable, you just pull "up" on it. It connects to a connector on the board.
