I have a hopefully simple question - I just installed my first SSD, a Crucial C300 128GB. When doing things such as downloading files that I will immediately be using, or just needing a general file workspace, I use my desktop space. Therefore, I will do many extra writes to my SSD over the years due to this habit. I know that less writing=better life for a SSD, but would it really be necessary to change this habit for the sake of my drive?

    Thanks!

    Short answer: no.

The only time when you should be concerned about too many writes to an SSD in normal usage is if your "normal usage" is in a server where huge amounts of data are written and rewritten 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For what you're describing, there's nothing to be concerned about.
