    Need to transfer data form my old Laptop sonyvz11z into my new laptop.

    Hi guys. My sony fz11z is dead. Motherboard died. I want to take hdd from there and connect it to muy new laptop in order to recovr all my files. How can I do it? which adaptor to use?

    And also, how can I sequrely erase all my data from my old hdd? thanks so much

    I would buy a USB enclosure for a 2.5" HDD and put the old HDD into it. If you are UK then this is amazingly cheap and should do the job but this looks better quality.

    Once the files you need are transferred you can format it. There are secure erase programs out there, although I can't think of a free one. However, if the FZ is dead then I suggest that keep the old HDD in the enclosure and use it for backing up the files on your new computer. Then you should have one less thing to panic about next time something dies.
