Fellows, life is a journey not a destination. Live in the moment. When this comes out you will still be looking to the future.

Just having fun. Until I see it I don't care. Montevina is still not in peoples hands, all waiting? I am not emotionally strong enough to get too far ahead.

    not really bud,
the amd desktop/server processors which my laptop can use can outpace any of the mobile processors from intel.
Plus most of the time people claim their system is slow and think its cpu related, when 9 times out of ten its the harddrive. Well I have the only laptop model with an integrated hardware based raid controller, which equals 85% efficient raid 0, which is about 10x more efficient than the software raid most desktop replacements have. Loading time is practically nothing with my AMD, so yeah ;)
Intel is still better in the mobile department, my laptop just has a server cpu from AMD.

Nice avatar, I like the Breakfast club!

A little off topic but wanted to enhance the mood.

And well talking about things that don't exist and other stuff? Is it really much different?

... I liked the old pentium name...

I like the Pentium logo "Pentium 4 inside" etc.

Core 2 Duo inside just doesn't quite sound as good a the older Pentiums

far as I am concerned Core 2 duo should have been Pentium 5, Pentium 5 D, Pentium 5 Q... IMO

I thought Nahalem was going to be Core 3. It kind of looks like the imaginary number. So will this be Core i7 or Core Iota 7?

From what I have seen, some have speculated that since this is the 7th generation this maybe where the name came from. Not sure what is up with the i though. Just pile on the confusion.

"Intel is believed ready to announce its first Core i7 processors on August 11th but with shipping only taking place in the fall. Notebook-ready versions are still due in early 2009."
desktop cpu soon and notebook cpu Early 2009?
    ah earlier than i though

    dang.. should i wait..
what improvements does the nehalem processors have again?(other than a low clocked nehalem processors runs better than high end c2d cpus.)
i didn't think penryn or montevina was worth holding out for, anyone want to convince me Nehalem is?

    Why wait with me :):

    • 32nm
    • The cpu and gpu are on the same die, so some space is saved.
    • New power saving features
    • Standard DDR3 ram
    • New wifi cards likely with full N support (instead of current draft).
    • Native quad cores
    • Hyper-threading that actually works
    • usb 3.0 might be ready
    • Bluetooth 3.0 will be out

Nope, it most likely means that this is the 7th generation processors.

    I'd say better than 100% :p

We should get some early adopters 4th quarter this year with most everyone else getting on board in 2010. And soon after that we get a die shrink because sandy bridge is right around the corner

Lol ... I was under the impression it will be in 2010.
But it's nice to see it will be available in about 6 months time.
Albeit I probably should have waited in that case instead of buying my acer 5930G a few months ago.

It quad core Nehalem for notebooks in the fall then dual core with intergrated graphics built in in early 2010, possibly 32nm.
