Hi guys, I was just really interested in the new upcoming processors that Intel is going to publish and one of them is the Nehalem. Do you guys have any info about this?? Of how the performance will be compared to Merom? I heard that it will have the ability to have 8 cores in a single chip, which is really outstanding..

16 cores actually. but wont be out until late 2008 and only on desktop. Notebook Nehalem would be 2009. It is meant to be the first 'true quad for intel, the current ones are two Core2duos on the same die.

If by upcoming you mean in a year+ then yes their coming. But like mentioned before, these won't be around (at least on the mobile platform) untill well into 2009, and that's w/o any delays that could suddenly pop up.

Intel said 8 cores at most with 45nm,maybe 8 cores with HT (16 virtual)..
Current ones (kensfield, clover, yorkfield) are two dies (dice) in one package ;)

It will sport a lot of new technologies like CSI(quickpath),imc,HT (comin back, all new)..
What technologies will come on various versions is still not clear, only wild rumours..
Performance is said to be a big leap ahead..
Intel had shown a working nehalem on last IDF..
