How do these 2 Compare? I'm customizing a laptop and AMD is cheaper and i could get the AMD Turion(TM) Neo X2 Dual-Core L625 Processor (1.6GHz, 1MB) with ATI Radeon(TM) HD 3200 Graphics Cheaper than the Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor SU7300(1.3GHz,3M Cache)w/Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator4500MHD.

Any noticable differences? Baterry Life? Power? Or is AMD cheaper, Because...well...They have always been.

The Intel solution will have superior CPU performance and battery life. The AMD solution will have superior GPU performance. Overall, the Intel is the better choice, depends on the price difference between the two.

its a $70 price difference. I'll be using this computer for general use, No gaming and maybe a little streaming HD video.

The AMD & INTEL cpu`s have similiar performance , though you will get better battery life with the INTEL and it will run cooler.

Since you will not be gaming the INTEL 4500mhd will be your best choice.

I would pay the extra $70 and get the INTEL U7300 version.

Better depends on the goal. If you don't need tons of battery life or performance, which most typical laptop uses do not, then the extra battery life and performance the Intel offers has little value.

nah. less powerconsumption == only benefits anyways. cooler, less fan noise, longer batterylife, lower power bill, what ever you want.

and once you get a laptop with great battery life, you will quickly adopt to it, and start to use it everywhere.

Heh. This is true, especially the last sentence. I think if you get used to it, you'll never be able to have enough battery life(at least you won't want to get a device with less)

As to the OP. They seem rather similar. Clock-per-clock Intel CULV is faster, but the Neo is clocked higher. When crippled with lower FSB/drive performance/cache, the Intel performance advantages diminish a bit. Yes, the Intel laptop will be cooler, and if they both use similar battery capacity, a better battery life.

Then it is a good thing the Envy has only 2 hours? hahahaaha

If you ask me, the Neo performs just as well, and comes in cheaper.

But take into consideration the other components. WiFi? HDD? RAM? GPU?

The ASUS is the best if you want the best battery life... but if you want performance and don't mind battery life , the Dm3t is your choice...

    yeah, it looks nice

the only thing is no SSD.... so its like $300-$600 for a intel SSD

    I got my Dm3t with an intel X25-M 160 for $100 more...

It looks like the ul30vt is better with graphics as it is a 210m and not 105m but other than that the dm3t and ul30vt are comparable...

build quality is yet to be seen. It looks nice and i thought about preordering..

but for $1000 out the door i got my DM3T with 2 batteries, a SU7300 and Nvidia 105m, 4gb of DDR3, and the intel X25-m 160 gb SSD drive...

the asus would be more expensive with the SSD drive addded.

Hexus.net reviewed the new Congo based MSI U230 vs. the Acer 3810T.

    http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=21331&page=1

The 1.6Ghz Athlon Neo X2 with 512Kb L2 cache lost to the 1.4Ghz SU9400 with 3Mb of L2 cache in CPU related tasks but the HD3200 beats the GMA 4500MHD.

Battery life is clearly in favor of the Intel system but price goes to AMD. (Estimated £399 for the U230 vs. £464.47 for a similar 11.6" Acer 1810tz)

    Neo's in definite need of a die-shrink.

SSD can help battery life while a bit but I don't think you get a massive jump out of it - the Asus has such high battery life as it's got an 8 cell 84 whr battery I believe compared to then 4-6 cell 60whr tops batteries most other culv's carry.

Personally I viewed the amd/ati combo as always giving the value for money approach - so it's only a little more than a netbook but far more powerful. But with flash 10.1 making intel's x4500 also pretty good with flash that would limit the benefits of 3200 over x4500 to games, which wouldn't be too much. Personally I wish they had put the new 4200 ati igp in with Neos, as it's better but I only see it lumped with cheap Sempron laptops - which would never give it a chance to get a name for itself like the 9400m has.

Also the closest spec-wise to vanilla asus UL30 (not VT) would be Inspiron 13z with su7300 / x4500 / 8-cell 80whr battery (although mine states designed capacity of ~83 whr).

Well. the ASUS uses an 8 cell battery with low-consumption components, therefore battery can last longer.

jk6959, what is an Inspiron 13z? New model?

For the Asus I only see 4400 or 5600 mAh , which model has 84 Whr ?

Think I found it, it should be the 8 cell, is the 8 cell only for the UL30VT ?
