I believe most netbooks use PC2-6400 memory. For netbooks with a single slot, is there an appreciable increase in power consumption / decrease in battery life by replacing a 1GB stick with a 2GB stick? I would imagine there's a slight uptick but is it fair to say it's much smaller than, say, what two 1GB sticks would consume were the netbook able to support it?
Does anyone have hard numbers on this?

Notebook memory doesn't consume a lot of power. You will probably be looking atmost 10 minutes difference in battery life.

I was wondering whether there'd be any benefit from doing that to save 'S3 standby' battery time. The difference should be greater there.

Memory uses very little power, though it also depends on the power draw of the system. Netbooks don't use all that much, but still the difference between sticks would as Soviet says wouldn't be more than a few minutes of battery life and therefore not really significant.

having more ram will mean less time acessing the page file so if you have a HDD and not a SSD then more ram could actually save battery.

True, there are a lot of other factors mitigating battery life.
