on dell xps m1530 config page. there's a new 250gb sata 7200rpm hard drive with free fall sensor! I guess this is a new seagate momentus because of the free fall sensor. the fastest 7k200 hitachi has been beaten I guess!

So question.
Which hard drive would be better to get? This one or the 320GB 5400 RPM drive? I remember reading that since the platters are denser in the 320, that it's performance rivals 7200 RPM drives. But I'm not sure about this one? -
Fujitsu has a 320gb 7200 http://www.fujitsu.com/global/news/pr/archives/month/2008/20080421-01.html

Nobody has ever tried this hard disk yet. But based on the data density , this is denser than the hitach 7k200 200gb which is the fatest hard drive now(not including ssd) . So this one must be faster. 7200rpm have shorter access time which I think more useful in reality than maximum transfer rate. I open resource monitor in vista task manager and notice barely did the hard drive reach it maximum transfer rate usually about 5 to 15 MBs . In my opinion 7200 rpm hard drive will be more beneficial than the 320gb 5400rpm.

depends on what you use it for. for gaming a 7200rpm would be beneficial
but if you deal with big stuff like video editing, you need fast transfer rate -

That Fujitsu MHZ2 CJ series has impressive specs including read / write power consumption of just over 2W. Unless they are following Samsung and squeezing 3 platters into a 9.5mm thickness, it will have impressive data transfer rates.

If I'm not mistaken, this is Samsung's new 7200 rpm notebook drive, which has already been shipping for some time now.

This is most likely the Samsung MP2 250GB 7200RPM drive. There are no other 250+GB 7200RPM drives being sold by any other company at this moment. Fujitsu has 2 lines of 250/320GB 7200RPM drives being released in the beginning of June and July 2008 (the MHZ2 CJ and BJ respectively).

For reliability wise, I would not trust Seagate. From many years experience with clients and between people I know, I've seen more Seagate drives failed over the other brands. Hitachi may be slower than this drive, but it's much better imo.
New 250gb 7200rpm notebook hard drive!
