    Hi,

I am getting a new Powernote 259IA (based off of the Uniwill barebones) that I should receive by the end of the week. Due to insanely low prices of this laptop now, it will cost me next to nothing after I have sold my Inspiron 8600, Advanced Port replicator and a couple other things I have lying around with no use for. That being said, here is the setup:

    15.4" WXGA display w/ 256MB mobility 9700
    2.0GHz Dothan (400MHz FSB)
    2GB DDR333 RAM
    60GB HDD @7200rpm
    Dual layer DVD, bluetooth, etc...

Now, the only thing that worries me here is the display. I love my 15.4" WSXGA+ I have on my Inspiron 8600, and would love to swap this over with the WXGA on the 259IA. Will this be possible? They are both 15.4" screens so should be fairly similar, but will I have problems with connections, screws, etc or do you think this is do-able?

If it is not then I'll suck it up I suppose. Anyone out there with a 259IA that can comment on the quality of the WXGA display used?

    Cheers,
    Stu

Nope, the screens even though are of the same size, the internal components might not match. The position of the inverters, size of the screen(thickness) all matters when trying to match a screen. Unless the screen used in your inspiron & the uniwell are an exact match swaping it would be quite impossible.

Yeah I figured as much, was no harm in making sure ;). I'll still have a look when it arrives but I am skeptical to say the least.

Anyway, any opinions on the WXGA screen used in the 259IA from anyone?
