So I just got a new battery for my laptop and I'm not sure if it matters or not but the battery discharges in a weird manner. I charged the battery to 100% then started using on battery power. For the first 15 min or so the battery level stayed at 100% then dropped instantly to 94% then the battery steadily dropped like normal down to 77%. Is this instant 100% to 94% normal?

Also I noticed that at certain percentages the battery charges slower. I received the battery at 24%. It took around 3 hours to charge it up to 41%. Is this a faulty battery or am I being paranoid?

What laptop do you have? From the looks of things it seems like a faulty sensor to me. Doesn't make sense for the battery to stay at 100% for the first 15 minutes.

    It's a C301NR from compaq

the default battery the laptop came with was a 6 cell but the battery I bought is a 12 cell that hp says is "compatible" with my laptop
