Which G60 do you have? Check on the bottom of your laptop, it will look like "G60-xxxx".

Yeah post the specific model as HP has alot of G60 series. Also you may be limited by your integrated graphics/entry level GPU rather than CPU unless you have like a Celeron 900..
-
G60-244DX is the Exact model number

Well you have an AMD Socket S1G2, the upgrades are very limited and only have a few hundred MHz difference, no real upgrades. I would save up for a newer laptop.

Yea, I agree with Tsunade_Hime. At most you can upgrade to a Turion Ultra ZM 86/88. Personally, I wouldn't bother since your GPU is the Nvidia 8200M and thats not going to help in gaming nor can it be changed easily either since its an integrated GPU.
-
Is there any way to change the socket for it ?
-
The fastest CPU for you would be the ZM-86 @ 2.4GHz, so a 400MHz boost. I believe your real problem is the integrated 8200m video card in your laptop. But, the CPU upgrade will help.
All of the Socket S1G2 CPU's are compatible.
You can get a ZM-86 for $130: AMD Turion x2 Ultra ZM-86 TMZM86DAM23GG 2.4GHz SocketS1 - eBay (item 280538155820 end time Jan-18-11 02:38:13 PST)
So, in the end its probably not worth it, as the laptop NiB cost was like $400.
Up to you, man. -
You could always sell you G60 for around $400 on eBay, and buy a refurbished Asus G50 or G51 for $500. -

Also if you do decide to put in a Turion Ultra series processor your cooling system probably couldn't handle it, given HP already makes terrible cooling systems best to live with it until you can afford a new gaming laptop which can be had for like 650-700. -
Alright thanks for all the info guys

Well i do have this Inspiron 530S sitting here that my brother jsut replaced with a new computer for xmas its a desktop though would you guys mind if i asked some questions about upgradeing it ?

You can go to 45nm Core 2 Quads for processor, a PCI-Express x16 (1.0) but you need a low profile one and your power supply is really limiting on what you can get. Also you should be able to go to 8 GB RAM.
Documentation says 300 watt but considering it's an OEM tin can get 2 free when you get a full tank of gas in China quality, probably 250 watt then counting 80% efficiency...not much upgrades, AND even if you get a discreet video card it will kill the PSU quicker. -
Well i do have an inspiron 530S sitting here its a desktop though mind if i ask some question's about upgrading it
