Hi, is it possible that my new CPU (P9600) it's not fully supported by my mainboard/BIOS? Because despite the fact that BIOS show the CPU name/frequency and the notebook is actually working, i think that there's something wrong with VIDs.
At 2,66GHz CPU-Z show a VID of 1.250, while according to CPU spec. it should be a bit lower (1.212). Strangely, my previuous CPU (T6570) has the same max VID of 1.250 @ 2,1Ghz.
Also the lower VID is 0.925 @ 800MHz; anyone knows the correct VID at that frequency?
The new CPU (25W) is running hotter than T6570 (35W), but it has a lower TDP. T6570 is 6-7°C cooler both idle and load, with the same room temperature. I'm thinking of selling this awesome cpu and replace with P8700 that should be fully supported.![]()

TDP is a marketing thing, the faster CPU (with more cache) will always consume more power than the lower clocked one. First of all, check the power consumption to see how much higher it is, if the heat increase is disproportionately large then you might have to clean and reapply your heat paste. Also, you can undervolt it to get better temps.

Pretty minimal differances aren't they?
Why not just pull the voltage down?
CPUgenie works ok for me -
I'm not sure if your 800mhz VID is right, I have the same line of processor (they're both 32nm iirc) and my default VID at 800mhz is 0.8750, which is as low as the CPU supports (I was kinda annoyed about that seeing as I can run it twice as fast at that voltage, the next multiplier up almost works too, I only got one error on orthos in one hour, one click up and it works like a charm).

But lowest vid is important to me, because most of the time i just do some googling/studying. And it's pretty annoying to hear the fan while notebook is nearly idle. That is: CPU may start at 35°C. Still at 800MHz it begin to get hot until 41-42°C and then the fan start. After it drops 4-5°C and the fan goes off. And again again again, every 30-40 seconds, really boring.
Sadly i'm currently selling this (really) great cpu. I will wait a bios update (if any...) and maybe buy a P9700 as last cpu...
New CPU not fully supported? Not a big problem but...
