In response to another user's thread, I decided I'd ask a question:

How much hard drive noise is too much noise? Is a faint/moderate clicking/ticking sound normal?

I'm using a brand new Sony VAIO CR, and the NBR Review's test unit seemed to have the same issue. Should this be cause for concern?

    Thanks,
    Peter

If it's a 7200rpm hard disk this has been reported before. Whether it is or not, I would find the part number from the device manager and google it for information on the problem.

Sometimes firmware updates can solve issues such as this, you could try checking the hard disk's manufacturer's website for any updates and/or advice.
