Hey all,
I would really appreciate some expertise here on a problem I'm having. I recently spilled some orange soda into an open CD tray on my HP Pavilion dv6000. I tried cleaning it out thoroughly, but it's dead.So now I need a new drive. Question is: Does anyone know what drive(s) would fit or is there one you would particularly recommend? According to Bixnet, the NB-DVDRW8 ( http://www.bixnet.com/insldvcodr.html) will fit my computer, but I don't think that's right because the drive has clearly got a straight rectangular shape and the side of my laptop tapers up toward the front so the right side of the drive is a bit taller than the left side. Any ideas?

Most laptop drives are fairly standard. Making them fit is the bigger issue. You may be able to swap the bezels. Hard to say from here. It'll probably work, but might look funny if that's an issue. HP would of course sell you one, but that'll be expensive.
