    Hello all.

My GPU fan has recently decided that it will whine and shriek when the GPU, and by extension the fan, is put under moderate stress.
So i've been on the hunt for a new (or at least refurbished) fan, and recently came across Skyline engineering and the listing for the laptops OEM parts. The listing for the fan is thus: Skyline Engineering: Gateway P-78 Acer Heatsink Fan Video Chip Cooling Fan 23.10214.001 GB0507PGV1-A

Here's my conundrum. Though they list this fan as being for the video card, it is clearly the CPU FAN! More than that, any fan I can find listed as for the vga/gpu has a product ID identical to that of the CPU fan: 23.10214.001. Though the stock gpu fan is of a different brand which I cannot find, am I to understand that they are basically the same fan?

Please help me quickly, I miss X-COM!

Actually looking at the pictures it seems the orientation is correct where the curve is and fan outlet which is different on the CPU fan.

If you look closely you'll notice that the cpu fan is actually installed upside down. The orientation for both fans is identical. One could probably fit in the others place, but I don't know if it would function properly. I'm not very familiar with laptop parts, so I wanted to check with more experienced people to see if one fan had a special function over the other that gives it a specific use.

Just look at Ebay they are a good source for replacement parts and some of those fan are used and some are new so just look there and see what your options are....
