I am considering a new hp 65xxxx from CC or BB or somewhere local for pick up. The one I'm interested with has a T7300 but only a 4200rpm 200gb HD. I am thinking I would need something faster since the bulk of usage would be for work. Could someone recommend an inexpensive faster HD to replace the 4200 one with? Also, is it hard to replace?

Hard disks are generally easy to replace, as they are only under a panel, on the underside of the notebook. There are many guides on the Internet that you can use to assit you, if you require. Before upgrading, use the 200 GB drive, and see if the speed is enough. If not, then you can purchase a replacement drive.

If you need space and speed, then 160 GB 7200 RPM drives are available. If you simply need speed, then you can get Seagate and Hitachi 100 GB 7200 RPM. Both of those drives are known for their speed.

It should be pretty easy to do. also if you go to the hp website, go to the support page and type in the model number there are a
    lot of guides and manuals.

Or I could just give you a link I guess.
service manual (.pdf) hard drive instructions are on pages 51-52

    DV6500t support page

I assumed it was the "T" (intel) version but the HDD replacement instructions will be the same for both.
