Ok I have that clicking sound.
There is a you tube video that has the same sound, bad toshiba 2.5 or something like that.
Its almost like zapppp zzzzzz chk chk. its not really a click, although i hear a clock tick and it does remind me of that sound a bit. Its constant at idle or whatever, louder when doing stuff.
Should I be looking for a replacement HDD?

It's called a dying hard drive. If it clicks constantly it's a damaged or misaligned head.
If it clicks every few minutes while in use, then it's just parking the head and should be safe.
Yes you should be looking for a replacement by the looks of it, since it clicks when idle or when in use. -
ya definitely clicks in idle, once every 2 secs, then occasionally zpppy chk chk, click clack, zzzzzzzzzzzz etc when it gets a bit excited.
