Hi. My new hard disk (Seagate Momentus 7200.3 320 GB) just arrived today. It came in ordinary, plain box with no warranty or anything like this (I attached photos). I just wanted to make sure if it's normal. I bought it in amazon.co.uk (I bought there a lot before and everything was allright). And also disk works good so far so maybe it's just my over worrying. What do you think?

Looks like a OEM version, which usually just come with the drive itself.

Maplin sells them the same way, so yeah. It's only the drive in a static bag, all padded up in a box. No papers, booklets or anything else.

EDIT: Quick wiki usually helps~ ;)

Basically, system builders tend to go for OEM versions as they usually don't need the instructions, colourful package etc. hence why it only came in a static bag. Nothing to worry about, thats how they come. Plus its usually cheaper as well (well I hope it was pretty cheap for you).

What about warranty? I guess it will be 5-yrs manufacturer warranty in this case, isn't it?

it was 70£ so I think it was quite cheap :)

No seagate harddrives ship with a 5 year warranty anymore, they all have a 3 year.
You dont get the information with any harddrive you buy, Its usually just the drive in a padded box.
The warranty starts from the date of manufacture on the drive.
The serial number of the drive is representative of the warranty info and so forth.
As long as your drive has a serial number on it, the manufacturer knows everything about the drive.

Really? I just bought a 7K320 that was manufactured in October 2008, so 3 months of the warranty is already used up? That kind of stinks, doesn't it?
