Ok so I have a new Intel G2. I am going to install a fresh windows 7 on it. Is there anything I need to do specifically? I hear there is TRIM. Does windows 7 do all this goodie itself or do I need to turn TRIM on?
Do I need to update firmware on the card? How do I know I didnt get shafted with old G2s because I know intel recalled a bunch before.
Also, which linux distribution is SSD friendly? I want to dual boot linux also. I hear that even ubuntu 9.10 is not SSD friendly because it doesnt support TRIM?

win7 does everything by itself. just make sure you run the windows benchmark if it fails to get you some nice number. because that measures stuff about your disk (and everything else) to adjust the system according to it.
afaik, newer linux distributions all have trim support. -
I asked the same question and got good answers here:

Yes, modern Linux distros are SSD-friendly only in that they will align partitions correctly. Unfortunately, the latest versions of most distros don't support the ATA TRIM command just yet. However, AFAIK, fully TRIM support came with kernel 2.6.32. Thus, most soon-to-be-released versions such as the upcoming Ubuntu Lucid (or 10.04, due in April) will support it.
New Intel G2 SSD. Windows 7. What do I need to do?
