Eh, Sager / Clevo notebooks already available with that config (see my sig). Isn't Kobalt Clevo too?

By the way, it's GTX 485m NOT 585m

Just reading that article boggles the mind. Available with GTX 485M, 16 GB DDR3 and storage provided by an array of OCZ SSDs and WD HDDs. It is the sound of money exploding!

Seems reasonable at roughly pound for dollar, but for those of us travelling to the states does Kobalt do any offers when calling them directly? I know the warranty is based in the UK, but if I have the choice of $1300 or £1300 that's a significant difference to the wallet

Er, Kobalt's based entirely in the UK. They import the chassis directly from Clevo in Taiwan, so the US doesn't really figure into it. Sager (in the US) also imports their chassis from Clevo, and do the finishing work in the US, like Kobalt does in the UK. If you purchase from the States, it'll almost certainly be from a Sager reseller, and the warranty probably won't transfer to the UK.

Brief look at the specs, it seems better than the current 970x but I don't like the fact it loses an expresscard option and SLI/Crossfire solutions for the newest generation Nvidia and AMD/ATI are several months away from retail.
