I have recently purchased the 7805u laptop in my sig which comes with a 9cell battery. I use this laptop primarily for gaming at my desk in which is is always plugged into AC power. I have not even taken the battery out of the bag (thus it has never been cycled or charged) and have stored it in my fridge. I obviously will never leave the battery in the laptop when Im on AC as I KNOW heat kills batteries so unless I take it to the airport or take it on a road trip, it will never have the battery in it. I have a few questions.

Should I cycle this 9 cell (charge, drain, charge, drain, charge to 40% then store in fridge? Or is it fine to just be stored as it is now in the fridge NEVER having been charged once from the factory?)

Also, Is it OK to leave my laptop plugged in all day every day (it is off during the day) Only thing I thought that could be harmful is if the wall outlet surged or the such. Any harm in leaving the plug in the laptop or should I just leave it out? Thanks

It is better to cycle your battery once when it's brand new. Then put it in the fridge at 40%, and cycle it once every two months or so.

Check the battery guide for more info.

Better to leave it out. As you say, it protects from surges.

    Thanks.

Does it matter whether I calibrate it on performance mode or battery saving mode? (performance draining faster) Also should I only do it once? (charge fully than discharge fully or try it 2x or 3x etc..? During this, should I drain until laptop shuts off or to say like 10%?
