Hey everybody!
A quick question
Last week I ordered a new MacBook and apparently it is one of the New MacBooks with 2.4GHz 3MB/L2. I can not find any information on the processors name on the Apple-website, but I guess it is the Core 2 Duo T8300? Is this right? And does this mean that I get a notebook with penryn-technology and therefore even more battery life then the old MacBook with 2.2GHz 4MB/L2?
This would make me happy since battery life is one of the main reasons that I choose the MacBook over the Lenovo T61, and it would make me looking even more forward to the arrival of my new New MacBook next week...![]()
Hoping to hear from you, best regards

Welcome to NBR, Skriver2008!
I just got the 2.4 Ghz Penryn Macbook to replace the 2.2 Ghz Santa Rosa Macbook I bought 2 weeks ago. I find it to be faster at most things. The extra gig of RAM doesn't hurt and it does seem to run noticably cooler. It is a win win to me which is why I paid restocking so I could switch. -
Older Macbook Pros have a slightly higher rating on Geekbench than the new Penryn processors
The OP was right in saying less performance, more battery life for his Mac -

Geekbench is not a website - Its a benchmarking program. The results have been mentioned on many tech blogs, websites, and forums.
And the Anandtech comparison I saw had two Dells running Vista with Penryn- I didnt see a Mac review comparing the new MBP to the old MBP. -
Anyway just to let you know, the new MB still uses SantaRosa except it comes with Penryn instead of Merom so its not SantaRosa MacBook or Penryn MacBook, its actually Merom MacBook and Penryn MacBook.
Penryn, Merom is the processor whereas SantaRosa is CPU.
Guess I have to wait for Montevina this May/June and hopefully there is a big discount for MBP.
New MacBook - Penryn?
