    So is it worth getting an XT now and risk it being out of date soon?

    I think it is. I bought one last week. (I buy quite a few hard drives though :) )

    So far there's only speculation about a new one. There hasn't even been a rumor.

    I'm still not sure as to whether I'll get an XT now or wait, but suppose that I wait for the new XT to come out. How difficult is it to completely copy a hard drive's contents? Does a new copy of windows have to be put on the new hard drive?

    does ur laptop support pcie mSATA SSD's? If so might be worth going down that route instead

    Easy, Acronis True Image, Tools, Clone disk.

    There are probably free tools that can do it too.

    I'm not sure if it supports them or not, but it is an Alienware M11x, if that helps at all. What exactly is a PCIE mSATA SSD?
