Hi everyone, I'm wanting to replace my 8GB of RAM in my W860CU with 16GB, but I'm trying to work out what type is right. What is the craic with Pin and DIMM?
    This is my current RAM

i'm after 2 x 8gb of new RAM, what do i need to be looking for in terms of pin and DIMM and voltage etc?

for example, would this be appropriate?

    thanks

Why not buy it from newegg if you're on the US?

Might want to get a freq bump to 1600MHz for more performance compared to the 1333MHz

EDIT: Nvm, that link for the RAM isn't compatible. Try searching for laptop memory instead, that memory is for servers.

Google up the part number, it should state the complete specs of the RAM in the kingston website

You can use newegg to search for the part number and name. Then buy the RAM you want at a UK store

I am thinking to upgrade my Devil 9700 DTX (Clevo 860CU). I am considering an SSD and RAM upgrade.

I cannot find anywhere info, if I can input 2x8GB (16GB) 1600 MHz Ram modules. Can someone help me with an answer, where to find this information.

I would like to buy Corsair Vengeance SO-DIMM Kit 16GB with timings: CL10-10-10-28

    Thanks

I thought it is possible to upgrade to 16GB and 1600MHz because of this thread. So, it ain't possible? Did someone try? :)

I would like a clarification on this topic.

All three CPU configurations on that laptop do not allow for more than 8GB of memory.

    And only 1333MHz as well?

As far as I know, RAM speeds higher than stock are usually supported. However, if you get a 1600 MHz memory and stick it into your machine, the memory would run at 1333 MHz.

That being said, there is no noticeable difference on most applications when running a slightly faster RAM.

Sorry for the revive, I'm looking to re-purpose my w860 as a small footprint ESXi virtual host for testing at home. It seems some of the later configurations of these for sale did include the option of 16GB of 1333 DDR3. Does anyone know if this would require a specific CPU to allow it? Would be a big help, as I can't run too many test servers with only 8GB of ram to spread around :)
    Thanks!

If you have the i7 QC and luck on your side, you should be able to rock 16GB RAM.

If I'm not mistaken, your chipset is limited by the cpu installed and by the BIOS limitations the manufacturer decides is appropriate.

Right there in the profile, i7 820QM. Alright, put an order in for some Crucial. Test it out Monday.

16GB RAM should run alright with the 1st gen i7 quads.. 32GB is the problem (4X8GB like in my G73JH :D)...

First attempt, system sees only 8GB. The search for non-OEM BIOS build begins :)

edit: err, couldn't find any Prema bios but messed with ram some more. I guess I didn't seat one of the cards properly the first time. Now reading 16GB of ram :) Horray for my VM lab laptop!
