So I have a p7805u laptop. Just got a 32 gb SSD (would of gone bigger, but it was free).
Anyways, I set it up as my primary drive, installed a fresh copy of windows 7 on it.
I popped in my old hard drive, and it read it- and was able to take files off of it, etc.

    My question...
Am I able to take the setting from my old HDD (chrome settings, profiles, etc.) and have them work on the SSD? Or do I just have to reinstall everything onto the SSD?

Reinstall everything, but a few things first.

1.) get the page file off the primary drive.
2.) If you can live without hyberation disable it and rid of the file too.
3.) put all user libraries for archives, IE downloads etc., to the secondary drive.
4.) keep system restore to a minimum or even disable it and use the secondary drive to save images of the primary drive on.

These are a way to maximize primary drive resources. I have almost all my libraries on the secondary drive other than the desktop as that is used at boot and durring normal usage.
